91吃瓜 Welcomes Students Back to Campus For Fall Semester
Krista Scoblick looked at her ID card and smiled. She knew she was one step closer to becoming an official Falcon and starting her educational journey at 91吃瓜.
With her card in hand, the 91吃瓜 freshman, went over to Financial Services to take care of business.
Scoblick, of Harveys Lake, recently learned more about campus resources, moved into her dorm and met new students during Falcon Fest, which started Friday, Aug. 26 and served as a kick off to the fall semester. Falcon Fest featured a variety of campus events that were both educational and fun so students could make the transition to college life easier.
During one of the weekend events, 91吃瓜 President Dr. Jill Murray told the students they can expect to encounter many exceptional teachers during their time at the College.
鈥淚t鈥檚 not chalk and talk,鈥� she said, adding that faculty go the extra mile for their students to ensure they are well prepared for their futures.
Murray also told the students the transition from high school to college can be overwhelming, adding that it鈥檚 normal for students to question their actions and decisions as they embark on this chapter of their lives.
鈥淵ou may ask yourself, 鈥榓m I ready?鈥欌�� Murray said. 鈥淎re we ever ready?鈥�
She offered words of encouragement to the students, telling them that they鈥檙e not alone and the campus community is here to support them.
To get better acclimated, be better learners and have some fun, the President told the students they need to be inquisitive and see what鈥檚 out there on campus and within the community.
鈥淓xplore the area,鈥� Murray said. 鈥淓xplore the region. Explore the college. Explore. Have fun.鈥�
After exploring and getting to know their surroundings better, Murray said students will have a better understanding and appreciation of 91吃瓜 and the area.
鈥淚 love this school,鈥� she said. 鈥淚 love this college, I love this city and I love this community. And, I think you鈥檙e going to too. If you鈥檙e not from here you will. If you are from here, I think you鈥檙e going to get a new appreciation for it.鈥�
